Identification

Dark frons , bare eyes, 3rd and 4th abdominal terga with yellow bands (complete or divided in the middle) and wing membrane entirely trichose. Source: Entomology collection (E.H. Strickland Entomological Museum) Length: 8.1-13.3 mm (Vockeroth 1992)
Biology
Larvae of Syrphus ribesii feed on several species of aphids (Láska and Starý, 1980).
Distribution
Alaska, Canada, South to California, Mexico, Central America, Mississippi, Europe, Asia (Vockeroth, J.R. 1992).
